More from your Music

Enjoying Nokia Music on your Lumia, and want more of it? You’re in luck. Nokia today announces Nokia Music+, which brings a slew of new and richer options for a low monthly subscription fee of €3.99/$3.99. For those that love the original free Mix Radio service, it will remain intact – this is all about adding extra. Jyrki Rosenberg, VP Entertainment at Nokia, told us, “People love Nokia Mix Radio – in fact, many people are amazed that we can offer it for free.“It’s the only smartphone music service out there offering access to millions of songs out of the box without the need to sign up, sign in, or suffer adverts in between enjoying the music. When you add in the ability to skip songs and save playlists for offline uses like the tube, you have something unique. “We spend a lot of time listening to how people use the service and have even managed to half the amount of skips per songs played, which is a combination of our systems and musicologists understanding and shaping Nokia Music around the users. “Nokia Music is great for discovering new music, and we’ve found that there’s a core of users that want even more of it. This is how Nokia Music+ came about. By introducing features like infinite skips and unlimited downloads, we’re opening the doors for unlimited music discovery at only €3.99 per month. “This is for people who care enough about music to pay something for more quality and choice, but don’t want to pay €9.99 monthly.”

So what do you get?

  • Unlimited skips. Whether you like to skip from track to track, or just want extra control over what you hear. There’s no stopping you with Nokia Music+.
  • Unlimited downloads. The free service allows you to download up to four Mixes (each of which contains hours of music) and play them without an Internet connection. The paid service removes this limit – you can download a massive supply of offline music you can swap as you wish.
  • Higher quality. We were surprised by the high quality of streaming music from Nokia Music, even over a 2.5G connection. Nokia Music+ allows you to download music at eight times the existing quality. Plus, you can set rules to only download high quality when you’re on WiFi, for example.
  • Lyrics. Words to the songs you’re listening to, right on your Nokia Lumia. Either in a scrolling list, Karaoke-style format, or a display you can scroll up and down.
  • On your desktop. The Nokia Music+ subscription also gives you access to the service without your phone. A web-app gives you the ability to play Mixes on your computer, smart TV or other connected screens.

Nokia Music+ will roll out in the next few weeks. The price will vary slightly according to territory, but is expected be available at around €3.99/$3.99 per month.

Nokia Expands the Lumia Range in Bahrain with the introduction of the Nokia Lumia 620

1200-nokia_lumia_620_color-combo-2Dubai, UAE, 13 January 2013: Nokia introduces the Nokia Lumia 620, the most affordable smartphone in its range of Windows Phone 8 smartphones in Bahrain, retailed at BD 96. Alongside the flagship Nokia Lumia 920 and mid-range Nokia Lumia 820, the Nokia Lumia 620 offers a more fun, youthful appeal, and compact design.

The Nokia Lumia 620 uses a new dual-shot color technique to deliver a variety of striking color and texture effects. Dual-shot adds a second layer of colored, transparent or translucent polycarbonate on top of a base layer to produce secondary color blends and depth effects.  With seven different exchangeable shells to choose from, people can adapt the look of their Nokia Lumia 620 to their own personal taste and style.

“We continue to execute on our strategy to reach new audiences and new markets by expanding our smartphone offering,” said Tom Farrell, Vice President, Nokia Middle East. “With its innovative design, the latest Nokia Lumia 620 with Windows Phone 8 software and signature experiences from Nokia, like Nokia lenses, Nokia Maps, City Lens and Nokia Music, the Nokia Lumia 620 is a highly competitive smartphone at a very affordable price point.”

Among the features shared with the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 are exclusive camera lenses that transform the creative power of the Nokia Lumia 620’s five megapixel main camera and VGA front-facing camera. The Cinemagraph lens adds simple animations to still photographs, while Smart Shoot creates a single, perfect shot from multiple images, even removing unwanted objects from the picture.

The Nokia Lumia 620 also provides access to the world’s best maps and location experience, including Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, Nokia Transport and the exclusive Nokia City Lens. Nokia City Lens displays information about local surroundings overlaid onto buildings as seen through the camera viewfinder.

Making it easy to discover and enjoy new music, Nokia Music provides free streaming of ad-free tracks without registration or subscription and the ability to download playlists for listening offline.

With NFC support, the Nokia Lumia 620 can easily pair with NFC-enabled accessories like the JBL PlayUp Portable Speaker for Nokia. Open and secure NFC-connectivity makes it possible to share and receive content by tapping with compatible devices, or make secure payments using the Wallet application in Windows Phone 8.

Powered by Windows Phone 8, the Nokia Lumia 620 delivers a more personal smartphone experience. Adjustable Live Tiles update direct to the Start Screen. People Hub pulls together contact information from multiple address books and social networks into a single location, making it easy to stay in touch with friends and set up contact Groups and private Rooms for sharing. From the Me Tile people can check in to their location, post an update, set chat status, see what’s new and monitor notifications across Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.  Windows Phone 8 also includes Xbox Live, Microsoft Office, 7GB of online SkyDrive storage and faster, safer surfing with Internet Explorer 10.

These features and capabilities are enabled by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon™ S4 Plus processors.

The Nokia Lumia 620 will be available in a range of colors* including, lime green, orange, magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black. Priced at BD 96, the Nokia Lumia 620 will begin selling on the 20th of January 2013 in Bahrain.

Nokia & deadmau5 'This is Lumia' light show in London

[iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ovKlWsRALJg" frameborder="0"]
On Wednesday 28th November 2012, exactly one year after lighting up Millbank Tower, deadmau5 returned to London for another audiovisual spectacular, “This Is Lumia”.

With the latest smartphones featuring the best low-light imaging as well as the unique Nokia Music app (with exclusive deadmau5 playlist), it was the perfect way to celebrate the launch of the Nokia Lumia 920 & Lumia 820. The intimate crowd at Flat Iron Square in Southwark was treated to an array of light, a few surprises and of course a flawless set from the inimitable deadmau5!

Every facet of the square was rigged with specially developed software so that it would appear as if the square was being ‘played’ like a musical instrument.

From the pulsating traffic cones to the flashing dustbins, the giant mirror balls to deadmau5 himself, make sure you don’t miss a beat by catching all the highlights here.

Something exciting is on the way… Nokia + Deadmau5 teaser 28.11.2012

Nokia UK is teasing us with the above YouTube video, with the title Something exciting is on the way… Nokia + Deadmau5. Nokia and Deadmau5 have been previously united during the Nokia Lumia 800 Launch event that took place at Millbank Tower, London. Nokia brought deadmau5 and the world’s most advanced 4D technology together and created an amazing free light show.

Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building’s 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down. Billed as the “future of live events” the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance — adding the 4th dimension.

I wonder what Nokia and Deadmau5 are cooking up and i cant wait to see what they are up to. Enjoy the Video “deadmau5 lights up London with amazing 4D projection – NOKIA Lumia Live” below.
